Privacy policy

Primus Publishing is the operator of the abouttravel.ch website and is therefore responsible for the collection, processing and use of your personal data and the compliance of data processing with the applicable data protection law.

Your trust is important to us, which is why we take the issue of data protection seriously and ensure appropriate security. It goes without saying that we comply with the statutory provisions of the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), the Ordinance to the Federal Act on Data Protection (OFADP), the Telecommunications Act (TCA) and other applicable data protection regulations such as EU law.

This privacy policy informs you about the collection of personal data during your visit to this website. The party responsible for data processing is

Primus Verlag AG
Hedwigstrasse 3
8032 Zurich

Please take note of the following information so that you know what personal data we collect from you and for what purposes we use it.

What data do we process when you visit our website?

1. do we already collect data from you when you visit our website, for what purpose and on what legal basis?
When you visit our website, our servers temporarily store every access in a log file. As with every connection to a web server, the following technical data is recorded without any action on your part and stored by us until it is automatically deleted:

  • the IP address of the requesting computer,
  • the date and time of access
  • the website from which the access was made (referrer URL), including the search term used if applicable,
  • the name and URL of the retrieved file,
  • the status code (e.g. error message),
  • the operating system of your computer
  • the browser you are using (type, version and language)
  • the amount of data transferred and
  • the transmission protocol used (e.g. HTTP/1.1).

This data is collected and processed for the purpose of enabling the use and provision of our website (connection establishment), to ensure system security and stability in the long term and to enable the optimization of our website as well as for internal statistical purposes. This is our legitimate interest in data processing.

The IP address is also evaluated together with the other data in the event of attacks on the network infrastructure or other unauthorized or abusive website use for clarification and defense and, if necessary, used in the context of criminal proceedings for identification and for civil and criminal proceedings against the users concerned. This is our legitimate interest in data processing.
The IP addresses are stored anonymously by our hoster. For this purpose, the last one to three digits are removed, i.e. “127.0.0.1” becomes “127.0.0.0”. IPv6 addresses are also anonymized.
Error logs, which record incorrect page views, are deleted after seven days. In addition to the error messages, these contain the accessing IP address and, depending on the error, the website accessed.

As communication by e-mail usually takes place via an unsecured data connection, please avoid sending confidential information. The e-mails received are stored in the mailboxes of the corresponding e-mail addresses and in accordance with the statutory retention periods.

4. What are cookies? Do we need cookies?
Cookies help in many ways to make your visit to a website easier, more pleasant and more useful. Cookies are information files that your web browser automatically saves on your computer’s hard disk when you visit a website. We use :

  • Technically necessary cookies
  • Cookies from Google Analytics, the Google Tag Manager and the Google advertising network (see section 5)
  • Cookies from our ad server, i.e. we mainly use technical cookies that are necessary for the operation of the content management system or that store information for optimized user guidance. Both are in our legitimate interest.

Most Internet browsers accept cookies automatically. However, you can configure your browser so that no cookies are stored on your computer, existing cookies are deleted or a message always appears when you receive a new cookie. If you reject the use of cookies, individual functions of the website may no longer be usable.

5. do we need tracking tools?

5.a: What are tracking tools?
We use the web analysis service of Google Analytics and the Google Tag Manager (GTAG) for the purpose of designing and continuously optimizing our website to meet your needs. In this context, pseudonymized user profiles are created and small text files stored on your computer (“cookies”) are used. The information generated by the cookies about your use of this website is transmitted to the servers of the providers of these services, stored there and processed for us. In addition to the data listed under points 1 to 4, we may receive the following information as a result:

  • Navigation path that a visitor takes on the site,
  • Time spent on the website or subpage,
  • the subpage on which the website is left
  • the country, region or city from which access is made
  • end device (type, version, color depth, resolution, width and height of the browser window) and
  • returning or new visitor.

The information is used to evaluate the use of the website and the store, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services relating to website activity and internet usage for the purposes of market research and the needs-based design of this website. In addition, the tools help us to control, optimize and measure the success of advertising measures and are therefore in our legitimate interest. This information may also be transferred to third parties if this is required by law or if third parties process this data on our behalf.

5.b What is the Google Tag Manager?
We use Google Tag Manager for the central collection of visitor data. The Google Tag Manager collects data on our website and forwards it to connected analysis tools, such as Google Analytics (see also section 5.c). The Google Tag Manager itself does not store any data, but depending on the connected tools, the Tag Manager already transmits your IP address to the respective connected analysis tools. We have configured the Tag Manager in such a way that, if the IP address is collected, it is shortened and thus anonymized. This means that individuals can no longer be clearly identified.
Further information on data protection with regard to the Google Tag Manager can be found here:
https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/9323295?hl=de&ref_topic=13548179&sjid=12498597472465079774-EU

c: What is Google Analytics?
The provider of Google Analytics is Google Inc, a company of the holding company Alphabet Inc, based in the USA. Before the data is transmitted to the provider, the IP address is shortened by activating IP anonymization (“anonymizeIP”) on this website within the member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. The anonymized IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. According to Google Inc., under no circumstances will the IP address be associated with other data relating to the user.
Further information about the web analysis service used can be found on the Google Analytics website. You can find instructions on how to prevent the processing of your data by the web analysis service at http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

d: Use of Google Remarketing
We use the remarketing function of Google Inc. This function is used to present interest-based advertisements to website visitors within the Google advertising network. A “cookie” is stored in the website visitor’s browser, which makes it possible to recognize the visitor when he or she visits websites that belong to the Google advertising network. On these pages, the visitor can be presented with advertisements that relate to content that the visitor has previously accessed on websites that also use Google’s remarketing function.
According to its own information, Google does not collect any personal data during this process. However, if you do not wish to use Google’s remarketing function, you can deactivate it by making the appropriate settings at http://www.google.com/settings/ads. Alternatively, you can deactivate the use of cookies for interest-based advertising via the advertising network initiative by following the instructions at http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp.

In addition, you have the option of preventing the collection of user profiles for the delivery of personalized advertising by clicking on the cross displayed in the banner via the Display options button.

Storage and exchange of data with third parties

6. disclosure of data to third parties
In order to fulfill some of the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, we may share your personal data with third parties. These may include the following:

  • Processors who provide services on our behalf (e.g. IT services, logistics, printing services, telecommunications, debt collection, consultancy and sales and marketing);
  • certain regulated professionals such as lawyers, notaries or auditors, if this is necessary in certain circumstances (legal disputes, auditing, etc.) and to our insurers;
  • Partners to conduct advertising, market and opinion research;
  • Partners to assist in the investigation of criminal offenses (e.g. fraud), assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims;
  • Authorities and official bodies in the event of a legal or official obligation (e.g. retention obligations)

7. newsletter mailing
Our customers and partners receive our newsletter at regular intervals. We use this exclusively to send specialist information by e-mail. We use the following information to send the newsletter:

  • Surname
  • First name
  • e-mail address

In particular, we use the MailChimp program, a service provided by The Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30318 (“Rocket”), to send our newsletter. The data we transfer to MailChimp is encrypted before being transmitted to Rocket and stored by The Rocket Science Group.
MailChimp offers various options for analyzing how the newsletters sent are opened and used, e.g. how many users an email was sent to, whether emails were rejected (soft and hard bounces) and whether users unsubscribed after receiving an email. These analyses are group-related and are not used for individual evaluation. MailChimp also uses the Google Analytics analysis tool from Google, Inc. and may incorporate it into the newsletter. Further details on data protection from MailChimp www.mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/.

We will send you our newsletter regularly on the basis of your express consent. You can revoke this consent at any time. You will find a corresponding unsubscribe link in every newsletter.

8 Google Maps
We use the product Google Maps, a service of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA (hereinafter “Google”) for directions or for a tour of our store. When you access a page with integrated Google Maps, Google stores a cookie on your device via your internet browser. Your user settings and data are processed in order to display our location and, if necessary, to create directions.
You can find more information about the Google Maps service used at https://www.google.com/intl/de/help/terms_maps.html.

9. sharing content via social media
We only allow content to be shared via social media platforms (WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook) using the secure Shariff process. The open source tool Shariff was developed by c’t and heise online. The Shariff button only establishes direct contact between the social network and the visitor when the latter actively clicks on the share button. In this way, Shariff prevents the visitor from leaving a digital trace on every page visited with social media buttons.

As soon as the visitor clicks on the share button, a pop-up window opens, which can be used to log in to the SoMe platform if the visitor is not automatically logged in. Only after logging in does a sharing post appear in which the link and title can be seen and the content can be shared. Shariff therefore acts as an intermediate instance and integrates the buttons indirectly so that the social media platforms cannot automatically pick up user data and process it without being asked.

10. ad server for advertising delivery
We also finance our online offering through advertising. For delivery, our ad server collects data such as an anonymized IP address, screen size, browser, operating system in order to be able to deliver the advertising material optimized for the respective end devices. It also logs how many ads were delivered and the clicks on the ads. The data is not merged with other data. Google advertising is also displayed via the ad server (see also section 5d). For this purpose, Google uses cookies that enable tracking for the display and optimization of advertising based on your usage behavior and your presumed interests and needs. Paragraph 5d explains how you can object to this use.
You can find revive.com’s privacy policy here:
https://www.revive-adserver.com/privacy/

11. videos from YouTube
We use YouTube videos to make our websites more informative and interactive and to improve the user experience. These functions are offered by YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA.
We have integrated YouTube videos into our online offering, which are stored on https://www.youtube.com and can be played directly from our website. These are integrated in the so-called “extended data protection mode”, i.e. no data about your user behavior is transmitted to YouTube when you play the videos. This is done via the URL: www.youtube-nocookie.com. However, this does not prevent other data from being exchanged between YouTube and your browser.
Further information on the use of personal data and other data collection and retention periods can be found in YouTube’s privacy policy at https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy.

12. how long will my data be stored?
Data from the website visit is stored for a maximum of 60 days as described in section 1. If you contact us by telephone or e-mail, personal data may be collected to fulfill your request. We only store personal data for as long as is necessary for further processing within the scope of our legitimate interest. We store contractual data for longer, as this is required by statutory retention obligations. Retention obligations that oblige us to retain data arise in particular from accounting regulations, civil law and tax law. If we no longer need this data to perform the services for you, the data will be blocked. This means that the data may then only be used for accounting and tax purposes.

13. transfer of personal data abroad
We are entitled to transfer your personal data to third parties (contracted service providers) abroad for the purposes of the data processing described in this privacy policy. In particular, you must expect your data to be transferred to countries in Europe, the USA and worldwide, where the service providers and service providers we use are located. If the FDPIC or the European Commission has recognized that a third country offers an adequate level of data protection, your personal data may be transferred on this basis.

For transfers to a third country whose level of protection has not been recognized as adequate by the FDPIC and the European Commission, we will either rely on a derogation applicable to the particular situation (e.g. if the transfer is necessary for the performance of our contract with you) or apply one of the following appropriate safeguards to ensure the protection of your personal data:

  • standard contractual clauses approved by the FDPIC and the European Commission;
  • binding internal data protection rules.

To obtain a copy of these safeguards or information on where to obtain them, you may submit a written request to the address mentioned in section 18.

14. integration of hyperlinks to third party websites
We have included links on our website to the websites of some of our partners and to other relevant websites. If you access such links from our website, data may be passed on to the owner of the website you are accessing. Please refer to the data protection declarations on the respective websites.

Anything else you need to know?

15. You have the right to access, rectification, erasure and restriction of processing as well as the right to data portability
You have the right to request information about the personal data that we store about you. However, your right to information may be restricted in the cases provided for by law. In addition, you have the right to have incorrect or incomplete data corrected and the right to have your personal data deleted, provided that this does not conflict with any legal obligation to retain data or an authorization that allows us to process the data.
You also have the right to request that we return the data that you have provided to us (right to data portability). On request, we will also pass the data on to a third party of your choice. You have the right to receive the data in a commonly used file format.
You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes at any time. This also applies to any profiling, insofar as it is associated with such direct advertising.

You can contact us for the aforementioned purposes via the e-mail address info@primuspublishing.ch. We may, at our discretion, require proof of identity in order to process your requests.
In many countries, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority if you have concerns about how we process your data. In Switzerland, this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern.
The aforementioned rights depend on the applicable data protection legislation and may therefore be either more limited or more comprehensive.

16. is your data safe with us ?
We use suitable technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data stored by us against manipulation, partial or complete loss and against unauthorized access by third parties.
In general, you should always treat your access data confidentially and close the browser window when you have ended the browser session, especially if you share your computer, tablet or smartphone with others.
We also take internal data protection very seriously. Our employees and the service companies commissioned by us have been obliged by us to maintain confidentiality and to comply with data protection regulations.

17. can this declaration be amended?
Due to the further development of our website and offers or due to changes in legal or official requirements, it may become necessary to amend this privacy policy. The current privacy policy is published on our website.
